... I couldn't help myself. :P
I want to have some discussion about L4D2 and have a place to output my news that I have for it. Lets get some opinions about this release, if you all don't mind. Here are some pictures of the second campaign "Swamp Fever." Source: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009...-to-the-swamp/ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59659 Much of this is embedded directly from IGN, GameSpot, etc, but I believe all of it is new from Comic-Con. What do you all think of L4D2 being released only 364 days after L4D? Too soon or not soon enough? ![]()

I think instead of having a new L4D game out, they should continue pushing out new campaigns and levels for the original L4D as the developers had so previously claimed. I guess it's all empty talks.

Most people agree with that statement. Doug Lombardi still insists that they will release DLC over time, but that the L4D team just really wanted to make another L4D because the first was so fun to work on.
Or something like that, I don't know really. And yes, Chiaro. ![]()

It's been quite a while since the last DLC for L4D 1. And even the Survivor Mode isn't that unique because it doesn't really change the gameplay tactic all that much.
New campaigns with better levels should, in some respect, be able to present new ways of fighting off zombies. |

Yes, we should hope so. It seems one of the main drives behind making L4D 2 has been preventing cheap tactics such as corner camping.. The Charger knocks away survivors in groups and the Spitter's bile forces them to move to prevent burn damage.. Maybe this could have been presented as DLC. I'm sure some map developers will include trigger entities in their maps to prevent this. That I know is entirely possible.

As with everybody else in the internet I'd rather just have this as DLC for L4D1, but obviously it's not happening so there's no point restating it every time Left 4 Dead 2 is mentioned.
That said, I'll probably buy it anyway.

A couple days late on this, but here is some L4D 1 news.
http://www.destructoid.com/exclusive...n-142570.phtml They are said to be releasing a two-map campaign geared towards versus in the next month or so. I'm not going to copy-paste the whole article here, so go read it for yourself. It should be a pretty good read for those who are still agonizing over L4D 2. ![]() A good thing to note; Crash Course has some new audio for the survivors. Always good news; the recordings for Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead are witty and terse.

Why can't they friggin' release new campaign maps for the regular game instead of releasing new contents to versus or other lame gameplay modes that I absolutely have no interest in?
God damn the Valve. |

I'm not huge on versus either, but hey, free is free.
Personally I'd rather see some good Survival maps that aren't in the campaigns.

It can be played in campaign mode, it's just specifically geared to be a better versus experience.

The third campaign, although unnamed, begins in a traffic jam after a previous campaign, and ends as they make their way to "Whispering Oaks" fairgrounds. Other new news includes that there will be Katanas and other stronger weapons. In addition they are beginning to push the story in the individual maps more than the beginning cut scenes. And here is the video containing all this and more from GTTV the other night. http://www.spike.com/full-episode/on...at-valve/33483

Well...L4D 2 does look more interesting now. But I really don't like how we need to buy a new game to get more weapons, etc.

You could always wait for a weekend sale, with the skepticism from fans I'm sure they'll have some sort of offer up not too long after launch.

Well, the demo's been out for quite some time now. What does everybody think? I personally think I'll be spending a bit more time on this one than the first L4D. I'm not a huge fan of repetition, but the demo's quite addicting. However, my main problem with the first one was that I could never find enough time to sit down and finish a freaking campaign before I had to go to work or something else. And I'm afraid that's going to be the case this time as well.
I might preorder it on Steam tonight, so I might see you guys at launch.

I really enjoyed the demo and preordered last month. I've already preloaded the full game, so its just a matter of time.

Damn you PC guys, I feel so left out. I pre-ordered it so I could get the baseball bat & have been enjoying every last second of it. Dead Center is fun, The Carnival is sweet, Swamp Fever is awesome, Hard Rain is a pain in the ass (w/ all those witches), & I'm just about to move onto The Parish.
I've stayed away from most online modes (all of them besides campaign) because I'm just to afraid of small team anything. Maybe I should get over it, I hear it's fantastic. |

Versus is a blast with friends* who have microphones. Campaign is great too on harder difficulties, sometimes impossible. I think Scavenge is the true good new thing though. Short length versus matches, basically. Perfect for quick bite sized games.
